Fudadin ruled out

Left-handed batsman Assad Fudadin has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match Test Series against South Africa due to injury, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced yesterday.

The 29-year-old Guyanese batsman suffered a fracture of the little finger on his right hand during warm-up on the opening day of the first Test on Wednesday.

He underwent surgery late Wednesday, the WICB said in a release.

WICB says a replacement player will be named in the coming days.

Fudadin, who played three Tests in 2012 against England and New Zealand, was selected as a replacement for Darren Bravo who pulled out of the tour, citing personal reasons.

Balotelli fined, banned

The English Football Association (FA) has banned Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli for one match and fined him US$39,000 over a racially offensive posting online.

The FA says Balotelli has also been ordered to attend an education programme for the "aggravated breach" of its rules.

Balotelli uploaded on Instagram a picture of the video-game character Super Mario, with whom the Italy international shares a nickname, with text around the image including "jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew".

The striker, who has been subjected to racial abuse on numerous occasions, posted the image of the computerised character on Monday with the heading "Don't be a racist".

Report: Marco Reus fined

Germany and Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus has been fined US$673,000 for repeatedly driving without a license, a German newspaper reported yesterday.

Dortmund prosecutor Henner Kruse told the Bild daily that Reus was fined because he's accused of deliberately driving without a license six times between September 2011 and March this year.

Reus told Bild that he was "far too naive, that was stupid" and pledged it won't happen again. Bild reported that the 25-year-old Reus took driving lessons when he was 18, but never took a test and then drove without a license.
