West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy failed with bat and ball as his team Hobart Hurricanes suffered a seven wicket defeat at home against Sydney Sixers in the Australian Big Bash League at Bellerive Oval today.

Electing to bat, Hobart Hurricanes were restricted to 154 for eight off their allotted 20 overs with Sammy, the West Indies Twenty20 captain, contributing only two runs.

After smashing 38 not out from just 12 balls on Saturday, Sammy was caught attempting one of his trademark big hits.

Skipper George Bailey hammered 71 off 44 to top score for Hobart Hurricanes.

Pacer Brett Lee picked up three wickets for 34 off his allotted four overs.

Needing 155 for victory, the Sixers proved too strong, reaching 158 for 3 with five balls to spare.

The Sixers cruised to victory with Moises Henriques unbeaten on 29 from 25 balls while Jordan Silk finished unbeaten on 31 off 23 deliveries.
