Rivoli United's coach, Calvert Fitzgerald, says key player, Cory 'Buju' Burke, will be going nowhere during the January transfer window of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL).

Burke this season's second leading scorer in the RSPL with ten goals, has been heavy linked with the local giants, Waterhouse, since the transfer window opened January 1.

But the Rivoli coach revealed that no official approach has been made by Waterhouse for their top striker, and insists that he is going nowhere for this season.

"He's not gone. He's not going," Fitzgerald a former Waterhouse coach told The Gleaner yesterday when we enquired if the move had been completed.

According to Waterhouse president, Ricky Chin, the deal was not yet completed, "all parties are still interested, it's just that we are working to find a common ground".

However, Fitzgerald says Waterhouse were unprofessional in their attempts to lure the fast-rising forward away from the Spanish Town Prison Oval to the Drewsland Mini-stadium.

"Apparently, Waterhouse people were promising him all kind of things and they told him that they had already talked with the Rivoli management, and that he could train (with them), but nothing at all went like that.

"When the club called him into a meeting to find out what he was doing at Waterhouse's training, he said, they (Waterhouse) told him that they had talked with our (Rivoli) management already, but nothing went like that.

"But they have been scouting him a long time, but now that the transfer window is open, they stepped it up a notch. But no deal was on, because there was nothing on the table for any negotiation to take place," Fitzgerald declared.

Attempts to contact Burke for his version of the events proved futile.
