AP Chelsea's Willian celebrates after scoring during their English Premier League football match against Everton at Stamford Bridge in London yesterday.

Premier League leaders Chelsea left it late as Willian netted an 89th-minute winner to beat Everton 1-0 yesterday and maintain their seven-point advantage over Manchester City, which won 4-1 at Stoke.

Sergio Aguero scored twice to end City's four-game winless run. James Milner and Samir Nasri also scored for City, while Peter Crouch's header had brought Stoke level before half-time.

Manchester United remain five points behind neighbours City, but rose to third with an unconvincing 3-1 victory over Burnley. Chris Smalling scored twice after replacing the injured Phil Jones. Danny Ings cut the deficit, but Robin van Persie scored a late penalty.

Southampton dropped to fourth after being held 0-0 by 10-man West Ham, while Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Newcastle. West Bromwich Albion climbed four points clear of the relegation zone by beating Swansea 2-0.
