PHOTOS: Gibson Relays - Calabar breaks record, Bolt anchors team to second place finish
The National Stadium was buzzing with excitement today as the 39th staging of the highly anticipated Gibson Relays, renamed the Gibson McCook Relays, got underway.
The Relays attracted the cream of the crop from high, primary and prep schools across the island.
Michael O'Hara once again added his name to the record books when Calabar's Boys 4x100m Class 1 team broke their 2014 record of 39.16 seconds, replacing it with 39.32 seconds.
The best senior athletes from clubs and institutions were not to be outdone with the likes of Usain Bolt, Warren Weir and Michael Frater, Kemar Bailey-Cole and Sherone Simpson to name a few took the track.
Bolt, who is attached to the Racer's Lions club, said he was looking forward to "great things" in Bejing.
Bolt anchored his clubs 4x100m team to a second place finish in 39.29 seconds.
UTech with rising star Julian Forte, on the back stretch, won in 38.23 seconds and Akan Track Club 39.59 seconds took third place.
