All Correct flies the Flag
ALL CORRECT, running without his customary blinkers, came through at the final bend to win the annual renewal of the Bonnie Blue Flag Trophy open allowance feature over 1820 metres at Caymanas Park yesterday, ahead of the even-money favourite FRANFIELD.
Presented in immaculate condition by champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, ALL CORRECT, running at odds of 4-1 with former champion Shane Ellis aboard, quickened away from FRANFIELD under champion jockey Dane Nelson early in the straight to beat him by 21/2 lengths in a field of seven.
The winner's lesser fancied stable-companion FORTUNEONEHUNDERED (34-1) led under pressure from FRANFIELD passing the half mile and kept on after giving way to finish six lengths third, clear of even-money second favourite UNCLE TAF, who plodded home a poor fourth after racing prominently for a long way.
ALL CORRECT is owned by Velvet Glove, and was bred by well-known equestrians Mark and Susan Wates. Ellis, who has won both races aboard him in recent months said: "ALL CORRECT is much improved this season and, having settled down, this versatile campaigner will make his mark in grade-one company before long".
In-form jockey Aaron 'The Iceman' Chatrie emerged the day's top rider with two winners. He first won aboard the Cashbert Khwalsingh-trained COMPUTERIZE (6-1), who ran on strongly on the rails to win the opening race for three-year-olds ahead of the 4-5 favourite PIZZARO. Chatrie also took the third race over the straight with 9-5 chance WOMAN IS BOSS for trainer Gary Subratie.
Racing continues on Wednesday.
