Jamaica’s midfielder Dane Richards has signed a contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) side, New York Red Bulls.

Richards, who played with New York from 2007 to 2012, signed with the team after spending the pre-season with them on trial.

As per league rules, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Richards, who is a native of Montego Bay, was drafted out of Clemson University by New York in 2007.

Over five-and-a-half seasons in New York, Richards made 147 MLS regular season appearances, the second-most in team history, and tallied 21 goals and 26 assists.

However, Richards was traded to Vancouver Whitecaps in the summer of 2012 for forward Sebastian Le Toux.

At the end of the 2012 season, Richards joined English Championship side Burnley, where he made one appearance before going on loan to Norway.
