ATHLETICS: Hyde, Taylor lead Jamaica's team to CARIFTA Games
Michael O'Hara, Jaheel Hyde, Christopher Taylor and Christoff Bryan have been named to a strong 62-member Jamaican team for the CARIFTA Games set for April 3-6 in Basseterre, St Kitts.
The defending champions will also field Tiffany James, Shaneil English and Kimone Shaw.
Kingston College’s Jevaughn Mattherson has been named, but will have to prove his fitness if he is to travel with the team.
The athletes for the Girls’ Heptathlon and the Boys’ Octathlon will be named based on the results from the ISSA Boys and Girls’ Championships that runs from March 24-28.
Jamaica has won the championship for more for more than 20 consecutive years.
The Jamaicans dominated the 2014 Games with 89 medals including 42 gold, 34 silver and 13 bronze medals.
The last time Jamaica lost the CARIFTA Games was in 1984 when The Bahamas won at home.
