Kingston City Run postponed

The 2015 staging of the Kingston City Run, which was scheduled to take place today, has been postponed indefinitely.

In a release yesterday, the event's organisers said they have been closely monitoring the effects of the fire at the Riverton City Landfill, which continues to affect air quality in the city.

"Following advice from multiple sources, including the Ministry of Health and Kingston City Run's own health team, the half marathon, 10K and 5K races have had to be suspended," the release said.

"We have taken the difficult decision after serious deliberations. While we know everyone was excited to participate in this year's event, the health and safety of all our participants

is paramount," Christopher Jarrett, co-chair, Kingston City Run, said.
