KINGSTON, Jamaica:

The organisers of the Kingston City Run have announced Sunday, March 22 as the new date for the event.

The half marathon, 10K and 5K competitions were postponed from the original March 15 date because of the smoke emanating from the burning Riverton City dump.

"We were very disappointed that we had to postpone the run, especially since we had several participants who flew in from other countries or travelled into the Corporate Area from out of town," said Christopher Jarrett, Co-Chair, Kingston City Run Organising Committee.

"Although we understand the new date may be inconvenient for some of our runners, we have carefully reviewed the upcoming race calendar and believe March 22 is the best option at this time," he said.

Organisers say registrants who have not yet picked up their race kits may collect them from the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) office, located at 2 Ardenne Road, on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20 between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
