CRICKET: Campion College wins Grace Shield, first title in 27 years
Campion College has won their first ISSA/Grace, Corporate Area, Grace Shield Cricket title in 27 years, after completing a six wicket victory over St George’s College, in the final at Melbourne Oval a short while ago.
Campion who resumed today’s third and final day on 48 for 1, in their second innings in search of 166 runs to win, achieved their winning target with six wickets to spare.
Neil Johnson led Campion’s victory charge with an important 50 and Saad Ahmad supported with 40 runs to set the stage for Campion.
In the end, the Mansingh brothers were both at the crease to lift Campion College over the final hurdle.
Abhijai Mansingh also contributed with 33 not out, while his other brother Atishai Mansingh hit the winning runs to end unbeaten on 10.
Simon Lee grabbed 2 for 32, for St George’s College.
