On Monday night, Liverpool won 1-0 at Swansea City thanks to a goal from Jordan Henderson. That result leaves them in fifth place and just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, so much is riding on this fascinating Anfield contest.

That victory was their fifth in a row in the league and extended their unbeaten sequence in the Barclays Premier League to 13 games, with 10 wins and three draws. It was also their sixth away league game without conceding a goal - equalling a club best record set 40 years ago.

Indeed, their last defeat in the league was on December 14 against United at Old Trafford.

United beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 on Sunday, their third league win in a row; a fourth would represent their best Premier League run since December when they won six in a row. But with one defeat in their last eight league games, United are beginning to pose a threat on the other teams pursuing a top-four finish.

Last season Liverpool did the league 'double' over United, winning 1-0 at home and 3-0 away. But when the teams met at Old Trafford in December United won 3-0 with goals from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie.
