Chennai clip Delhi in thriller

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo bowled a poor last over, but his Chennai Super Kings still managed to escape with a narrow one-run win over Delhi Daredevils in their opening game of the new Indian Premier League season here Thursday.

Playing at the MA Chidam-baram Stadium, Chennai posted 150 for seven off their 20 overs and then restricted Delhi Daredevils to 149 for nine, to sneak home by a single run.

Needing 19 from the final over, Delhi's Albie Morkel smashed a six and two fours, including one off the last ball of the game - as Bravo missed his lengths.

Morkel finished unbeaten on 73 from 55 deliveries, while Bravo finished with two for 36 from his four overs of medium pace.

Earlier, Chennai recovered from a poor start of 38 for two in the fourth over thanks to a top score of 34 at the top of order by West Indies opener Dwayne Smith.

The right-hander struck six fours off 31 balls and put on 33 for the third wicket with South African Faf du Plessis, who hit 32.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni chipped in with 30.
