Liverpool booked a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup - against Aston Villa - with a 1-0 midweek replay win over Blackburn Rovers. Now they return to the Barclays Premier League and their quest to finish in the top four.

However, the 4-1 defeat at Arsenal last Saturday leaves the Reds seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City with seven games remaining.

The loss at Arsenal was their second defeat in a row following a 13-match unbeaten league run. A third defeat would represent their worst sequence since November when they began a run of three defeats at Newcastle.

On that occasion Newcastle United's Ayoze Perez scored the late winner at St James' Park but their record at Anfield is poor. They last won there in the Premier League in April 1994. Since then, in 19 visits, Newcastle have drawn three and lost 16 including last season's 2-1 defeat.
