MUMBAI, India (CMC):

West Indies cricketers Dwayne Smith and Kieron Pollard slammed half centuries for their respective teams in the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.

Smith blasted an aggressive top score of 62 as Chennai Super Kings raced to an easy six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai, who suffered their fourth straight defeat, batted first and posted 183, inspired by a top score of 64 from Pollard.

Pollard applied brute force to tear the bowling apart in a 75 run stand with Rohit Sharma that lifted Mumbai from 57 for four in the 10th over.

The big hitting Trinidadian hit four fours and five sixes and got to 64 off 30 balls before he was caught by Smith off his countryman Dwayne Bravo who finished with two wickets for 30 runs.

Sharma was unbeaten on 50.

But the Indians could not escape from a mauling at the hands of Super Kings as openers Smith and Brendon McCullum smashed the ball all over the park in a 109-run partnership.

Smith faced 30 balls in scoring 62 which included eight fours and four sixes while McCullum scored 46.

Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga was treated with disdain as he was plundered for 21 runs in the fourth over while Jagadeesha Suchith, the young left-arm spinner who bowled the next over was taken apart for 23 runs.
