ATHLETICS: Jamaican high school athletes face unfriendly weather conditions

Jamaican high school athletes found the weather conditions unfriendly on the opening day of competition at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia as St Elizabeth Technical's Junelle Bromfield was the best placed in the High School Girl's 400 metres Hurdles clocking 1:00.80 to win her heat but had to settle for second overall.

It took the final heat of five to deny, the Carifta Under-18 champion as, Brooklyn Broadwater of Springdale, Philadelphia won her heat in 1:00.69 to edge out the Jamaican.

The next best placed Jamaican in the event was Vere Technical, Shanice Clarke who finished third in her heat and fourth overall in 1:02.54.

Manchester High, Renae McKenzie was 11th overall in 1:03.45 while Candice McLeod of Papine finished 16th with 1:05.34.
