ATHLETICS: UWI's Clayton captures gold for Jamaica at Penn Relays

Rushell Clayton of the University of the West Indies (UWI) won Jamaica’s first gold medal at the 121st Penn Relays, in Pennsylvania today.

Clayton won the College Women’s 400m hurdles in 57.81 seconds.

Race favourite Janieve Russell of UTech did not compete while Rhonda White of GC Foster was sixth overall with 1.00:18 seconds.

Jessica Gelibert of Coastal Carolina was second in the timed final with 57.87 seconds ahead of Grace Claxton of the University of Albany in 58.52 seconds.
