Penn Relays: Vere Technical and Holmwood through to girl's 4x800m relay final

Former champions, Vere Technical and Holmwood Technical booked their places into tomorrow's final of the Championships of America 4x800 metres Relay for High School Girls following preliminary round action earlier this morning at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

The Vere Technical quartet of Britney Dixon, Sanique Walker, Sashagaye Whyte and Derriann Hill won their heat in 9:10.31 to be the second fastest qualifier.

Gibson McCook Relay winner, Holmwood Technical finished third in their Heat in 9:20.03 to have the sixth fastest time going into the final.

Their quartet included, Shanieke Watson, Britney Campbell, Chrissani May and Melissa Thyme.

There was no luck for Spalding High out of Clarendon as they finished third in their heat in 9:31.43 and finished 13th overall to just miss the final as 12 teams advanced.

Western Branch High out of Virginia is the fastest qualifier after winning their heat in 9:09.43.

The final is slated for 12:10 pm.
