St Jago High and St Catherine Primary copped the coveted 'Top Junior High' and 'Top Primary/Prep' team chess trophies, respectively, at last weekend's Chess Enterprise Annual Scholastic Team Championships at St George's College.

Both schools won their respective divisions for a second consecutive year at the 16th staging of the tournament.

Spanish Town-based St Jago were represented by Joshua Christie, Akeem Brown and Jordan McKoy, while Shahiem Richards, Angelus McDonald and Tajae Morgan were the members of the St Catherine team.

In the Under-8 tournament, the trio from Hillel Academy, national age-group champion Kishan Clarke, Axel Torres and Krish Khemlani, took top spot.

Among the other competitors, solid performances by Wolmer's Boys' and Wolmer's Girls' secured them second and third places in the Junior High tournament, respectively. Bread of Life claimed second in the Primary/Prep tournament, with St Andrew Prep taking third.

St Andrew Prep had an even stronger showing in the Under-8 tournament, where they placed second, hinting at a high possibility for their future improvement in the general Primary/Prep category. Emmanuel Prep rounded off the top three among the Under-8 teams.
