ATHLETICS: Williams-Mills to compete in Doha Diamond League

The 2014 Diamond League 400-metre champion, Novlene Williams-Mills, will begin her title defence in Qatar, Doha when the new season starts on Friday.

Williams-Mills is among six Jamaicans listed on the provisional entry lists for the first meeting of the 2015 IAAF Diamond League series.

The two other Jamaicans are listed to compete in the women’s 400 metres, are Christine Day and Stephenie Ann McPherson.

Williams-Mills and McPherson will come face-to-face with American Sanya Richards-Ross for the second time in six days.

Richards-Ross is the 2012 Olympic champion.

On Saturday, she clocked a world-leading 49.95 seconds to win the event at the Jamaica Invitational at the National Stadium in Kingston.

McPherson finished third and Williams-Mills ended fourth.

Other Jamaicans down to compete in Doha are O’Dayne Richards in the men’s shot put, Roxroy Cato in the men’s 400 metres, Nesta Carter in the men’s 100 metres.
