BADMINTON: Henry arrives in Malaysia today for training
Caribbean men’s singles and doubles badminton champion, Gareth Henry will be hoping to use his month-long fitness and technical skills training at the New Vision Badminton Academy in Malaysia to prepare mentally for high-level international competitions this year.
Henry will arrive in the Asian country later today.
His first major tournament will be the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada in July.
Henry hopes to qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, in Brazil.
Though that journey is little over a year away, he needs significant improvements in ranking and playing form to reach it.
Henry missed out on qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in London after finishing 116th in the world.
The top 100 in the world made the cut.
On the last Badminton World Federation (BWF) world ranking of December last year, Henry was ranked 217th.
