Tsetsi 'Lights Out' Davis has secured his place in the semifinals of the Wray & Nephew Contender Boxing Series, following his unanimous victory over Ricardo Planter last night.

The bout was held at the Chinese Benevolent Association on Old Hope Road.

Davis is the favourite to win this title.

He won the contest after judges Llendel Allen scored the fight 59-55, and Clifford Brown and Eion Jardene both scored the bout 60-54 all in favour of Davis.

Davis, a two time finalist in the series, began the match very aggressively, as he dominated the bout from the opening bell. He had Planter on the backfoot for most of the contest, with some powerful punches to the head and body.

The fifth round was a big one for Davis, as  he caught Planter with a left uppercut, which had the latter crashing into the ropes

The quarterfinals continues next week at the same venue.
