FOOTBALL: Barnes says Sterling should stay at Liverpool
Former Reggae Boy and former England international John Barnes has urged Jamaica-born winger Raheem Sterling to stay at Liverpool and continue his development.
The Jamaica-born winger has rejected a £100,000 pound a-week contract and is expected to tell club boss Brendan Rodgers he wants to leave Anfield later this week.
Barnes, a former Liverpool standout says Sterling has not achieved anything in his career yet and should stay at Liverpool.
Manchester City are linked with the England winger, but Barnes says he would not become a regular for them.
According to Barnes, Sterling has great potential, but Liverpool gave him an opportunity and so he should stay at Anfield.
Barnes also says the time is not right for Sterling to move, but if he wants to move then Liverpool should sell him.
He says a manager cannot keep an unhappy player at the club.
