ATHLETICS: Stewart, Simpson beaten in Ostrava

The Jamaican pair of Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson could not get the better of American Charonda Williams in the 200m at the 54th IAAF World Challenge Ostrava Golden Spikes meet.

Williams took control of the race at the top of the curve and powered home to win with a time of 23.11 seconds ahead of Stewart, 23.43 and Great Britain's Bianca Williams, 23.43.

Simpson struggled at the start and could not make up enough ground, settling for fourth with a time of 23.56.

Also set to compete at the meet is Usain Bolt (200m at 12:50 p.m.), Asafa Powell (100m at 12 p.m.) and Edino Steele (300m at 12:40 p.m.).
