BIRMINGHAM, England:
There was no joy for Jamaica’s 100m sprinters at the Birmingham Diamond League meet today.

Nesta Carter recorded 10.00 seconds for fourth place while Julian Forte clocked 10.15 taking fifth place in the final, after both came through their heats.

In the first heat Forte, after a sluggish start, came home third with a season best time of 10.06.

Moments later Carter recorded 10.09 seconds to also qualify for the final in front of a near capacity Alexander Stadium.

The popular Carter was given a resounding round of applause just before his heat when he was announced to the crowd.

After qualification for the final, Carter told The Gleaner: “I’m happy with that run. I love running in England.

“England has a lot of Jamaicans who always come out and support us.
