Sewell can Seal The Deal

Orayne Sewell winning aboard New Kingston on May 25.

The Pick-9 eluded last Saturday’s massive  derby day crowd this paving the way for a $1.2 million carryover to tomorrow’s 10-race programme.
Punters were derailed by CLASSY PROSPECT at 11-1 in the fifth race and EUSEBIA at the generous odds of 10-1 in the 10th race, giving derby-winning jockey Omar Walker the first of three consecutive winners on the card.
The Pick-9 will embrace races two to 10 on the card, the first Super-6 from race one to six, the late Super-6 from race five to 10. We look at the first Super-6 which commences with a $180,000 claiming race over 1820 metres to be contested by six starters. The field includes the recent course winner TROPICALDEPRESSION, a bold front runner who just lasted by short head from the fast-finishing MISS DOROTHY over the distance some weeks ago.
TROPICALDEPRESSION, with Ameth Robles retaining the ride, will again set off in front, but MISS DOROTHY now has a good chance of turning the tables on improved terms at the weights. The race, however, is not necessarily confined to this pair, as other proven two-turn horses such as CAUSE FOR CONCERN and AUDRE’S BLESSING should enter the reckoning.
CAUSE FOR CONCERN, with Jevanne Erwin aboard,  to beat MISS DOROTHY and TROPICALDEPRESSION is my idea of the outcome.
SEAL THE DEAL, who beat all barring BLACK BOY over 1300 metres in maiden company last Saturday, is confidently expected to go one better in the second race over a mile for maiden four-year-olds and up.
The 4-y-o colt from the stables of Ryan Darby has less to do in this seven-horse field and with Darby sticking with 3.0kg claiming apprentice Orayne Sewell, SEAL THE DEAL should release his maiden certificate at the expense of his only serious rival, ALL FOR THE GLORY with Erwin aboard.
SWIFT GOLD, who was an unlucky loser when failing by half a length to catch SILENT STORM over 1400 metres  on May 30, gets the ideal trip of a mile in the third race (non winners of two) and despite a tendency to be slowly into stride, her final rattle should do the trick with Erwin now taking the ride.
SWIFT GOLD also lost narrowly to RAJ KAPOOR over this trip on April 26 when slowly into stride, but with everything in her favour tomorrow, should chase and beat  the front running BASIC INSTINCT and EMPRESS TRUCK, who was behind her in fifth on May 30.
The Gary Subratie-trained WAHEED NAJMAH  (Percy Williams up), second to STAR OF DAVID over the straight course recently, gets the nod over stable-companion SALSA DANCER (Omar Walker up) in the fourth race over the round five course, while it should be the front running course horse, UNBREAKABLE (Shamaree Muir), now dropped in class, to lead home MISS BOSS LADY and recent winner COLD GROUND in the fifth (claiming $350,000 - $310,000) over 1820 metres. Then, take the speedy HOLOGRAM SHADOW (gets ideal trip now) with back to form claiming apprentice Romario Saunders over fellow speedsters RUNJOHNNY RUN and SUNLIGHT EXPRESS in the sixth race for high claimers over the straight.
