Hotshot sprinter Elaine Thompson was originally expected to feature in the 100m at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships this weekend but she will instead focus on the 200m according to information reaching The Gleaner.

Thompson, the second fastest Jamaican this year in the 100m with a 10.84 season and personal best, which also makes her the fifth fastest woman in the world in 2015, was listed in the second of four heats, scheduled for Thursday afternoon inside the National Stadium.

However, the organisers were forced to scrap the heats all together and advance the event to the semi-final stage after only 20 entries were received.

The updated list did not include Thompson's name with sources close to the situation advising that she will instead be looking to qualify to compete in the 200m at this August's IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

Thompson's 22.37 also makes her the second fastest Jamaican in the 200m.
