St Catherine CC hold advantage in Senior Cup final

St Catherine CC hold the upper hand against defending champions Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) heading into today's second day of the final of the Jamaica Cricket Association Senior Cup at Sabina Park.

St Catherine, sent in to bat first, posted a respectable 239, and at the close, the JDF were 80 for four.

Leading the way for the 'Saints' was captain and national leg-spinner, Odean Brown, who top-scored with an unbeaten 59.

He was supported by AndrÈ Henry, 46; wicketkeeper Darnel McCallum, 32; and Danza Hyatt, 29. Former captain Tamar Lambert made nine.

This was against fast bowlers, Raynard Leveridge, three for 43, and Leighton Leslie, two for 42.

The JDF, in their response, have so far been led by national trials invitee Rasheed Outar, who made 26 and was the last wicket to fall, with the score on 68.

Captain Damian Grey, 12, and Marlon Pinnock, three, will resume batting today.

Mikail Powell, with two for 34, has taken most wickets so far, while there was been a wicket apiece for national pacer Brian Buchanan and part-time bowler Hyatt.

Play is slated to resume at 10 a.m.
