A majestic 105 from opener Chris Gayle lifted Jamaica Tallawahs to a commanding 180 for six off their allotted 20 overs in their Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 clash with Trinidad Red Steel at Sabina Park.

Gayle struck nine massive sixes and six fours off a mere 57 balls.

Left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn was the best of the Red Steel bowlers with two for 19 off three overs.

Gayle was supported by young batsman Jermaine Blackwood, who hit an attacking 38 off 28 balls, inclusive of a six and four fours.

"The wicket was a good one to bat on ,and I simply tried to make use of it," said Gayle.

"We now have a good total, which should pose some problems, and hopefully we will be able to defend it."
