Two medals for Ja at Junior Pan Am

DeMar Gayle and Renardo Wilson won silver and bronze respectively on the opening day of the Junior Pan American Championships in Edmonton, Canada yesterday.

Gayle had a best of 55.98 metres in the discus finishing behind American Payton Ottedahl who won gold with 57.96m.

Rebardo Wilson had earlier given the country its first medal of the championships after finishing third in the men's 400-metre final. Wilson clocked 46.5 to hold off teammate Ivan Henry who was fourth in 46.67. World Youth finalist, Jamal Walton of the Cayman Islands, ran on strongly to win the event in 46.09. My'lik Kerley of the United States was second in 46.33.

In the women's 400m final Dawnalee Loney finished seventh in 55.11. Canada's Kendra Clarke won the event in 52 55 with Sasa Williams of Barbados, second in 52.75 while American Kendall Ellis was third in 52.81.
