O'Dayne Richards equals national record for historic shot put bronze

Richards equaled his own national record on his third attempt with a throw of 21.69m to take the bronze.

O’Dayne Richards secured Jamaica's first medal at the 15th IAAF World Championships and in doing so made history by winning Jamaica’s first ever medal in the men’s shot put at a senior championships.

Richards equalled his own national record on his third attempt with a throw of 21.69m to take the bronze.

The gold medal was won by America's Joe Kovas with a throw of 21.93m.

Germany's David Storl took silver with his effort of 21.74m.
