Opposition spokesperson for sports, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, has lauded sprinter Usain Bolt for winning the men's 100 metres gold medal at the 2015 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China, yesterday.

In a statement released to the media, Grange said: "Bolt in the Bird's Nest proved, without a doubt, that he is the greatest.

"The world has witnessed once in a lifetime, once in a generation, a feat that can never be surpassed, when world record holder, Usain Bolt, faced his sternest test as an athlete and won the 100m race."

Grange continued: "Usain Bolt, you are a special gift from God to your parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, and to Jamaica. Because of your greatness, humility must be your crown.

"You have made our hearts swell with pride, our flag continues to fly high and our nation a brand that remains centre stage around the globe.

"Yes, there were a few who doubted Bolt's ability to beat Gatlin, but I was confident that Bolt had it in him, that true Jamaican fighting spirit for which our people are known. Amazing Bolt.

"I congratulate his coach, Glen Mills, and Bolt's management team. You have all made Jamaica proud."
