Men’s trio contests 400m semis

Jamaica’s trio of Peter Matthews, Rusheen McDonald and Javon Francis will aim to secure spots in the finals of the men’s 400m when they face the starters in the semi-final at 7:05 a.m.

Matthews will be first up running out of lane three in semi-final one.

The 25-year-old ran a new personal best of 44.69 to take fourth in his heat and qualified as one of the fastest losers.

McDonald will go in semi-final two having established a new national record of 43.93 in qualifying for the semi-final.

He will line up in lane five.

National champion, Francis, will line-up in the third and final heat where he will run from lane four.

He progressed to the semi-final after placing second in his heat with a time of 44.83 behind America’s LaShawn Merritt (44.51).
