Police investigators have been busy trying to ascertain what led to the death of a cop at Harman Barracks in Vineyard Town, Kingston.

The Mobile Reserve of the police force has its headquarters at Harman Barracks.

A representative of the force's Corporate Communication Unit says the cop's body was found earlier today.

His name has been withheld.

Last night, another cop, identified as Constable Xavian DaCosta of the Portmore Police Station reportedly committed suicide at this home in Silver Stone, Portmore.

A police statement says his body was found with a gunshot wound and his firearm close by.

Detectives from the Major Investigation Taskforce are probing that incident.

The police High Command says it is profoundly saddened at the passing of yet another constable under tragic circumstances.

It is urging members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to make use of the opportunities and support systems put in place to address welfare issues and other concerns.

The High Command says it’s giving its full commitment in providing support systems through the Chaplaincy Unit and other support mechanism at this time.

Earlier this week, a policeman allegedly shot dead his common-law wife in Duhaney Park, St Andrew and them himself in St Mary.
