Jamaica's 4X400m relay teams launch medal hunt

Jamaica’s female and male relay teams will tonight be seeking to advance to  the final of the IAAF World Championship 4X400m relay.

The female mile relay team will run in heat one at 9:15 pm.

The team will comprise Anastassia LeRoy, Christine Day, Chris-Ann Gordon, and Stephenie Ann McPherson.

Former world champions in the event, Russia, and Nigeria are expected to be Jamaica’s main worry in their heat.

Their male counterparts will also be aiming to advance to the final of the mile relay when they go in heat two at 9:40 p.m.

The team expected to be fielded comprises Peter Matthews, Ricardo Chambers, Dane Hyatt, and Javon Francis.

New national record holder, Rusheen McDonald will be rested.

The males will have tough competition in their heat as Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil and defending World Champions, USA, all line up in their heat
