Title holders St Catherine CC will attempt to get their Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50 Overs tournament campaign off to a winning start when they host G.C. Foster College at Chedwin Park.

To be led by West Indies all-rounder AndrÈ Russell, St Catherine are set to feature national captain Tamar Lambert as well as Gavin Wallace, Danza Hyatt, and Shacaya Thomas.

The Old Harbour Road-based standard-bearers are also expected to have in their line-up fast bowler Brian Buchanan, who was the leading pacer in the two-day JCA Senior Cup, which was held earlier this year.

St Catherine lost to the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in the decider.

G.C. Foster, first-time and surprise semi-finalists last season, will be led by emerging national all-rounder Derval Green.

"We should get the better of G.C. Foster based on the strength of our team," said Garwaine Johnson, coach of St Catherine.

"We lost out on the Senior Cup but are determined to defend our 50-overs title and intend to give it our best shot."

The fixture, in the meanwhile, will be one of three in Zone B of the four-zone championship.

Manchester will entertain Kingston and St Andrew at Manchester High, and Clarendon will travel to Ewarton Bauxite to face St Catherine CA in the other.

In other matches, St James will host Westmoreland and St Elizabeth welcome Trelawny in Zone A.

Police and the JDF, St Mary and St Ann, and UWI and Portland will do battle in Zone C, while in Zone D, Melbourne take on St Thomas; Lucas are at home to Kensington; and Kingston will host Boys' Town.

The zone winners and runners-up will advance to the quarter-final, which will be played on a knockout basis.

The final is slated for Sunday, October 25.
