U20 Girlz tackle SVG
Jamaica's Reggae Girlz will continue their campaign to reach the 2016 Under-20 Women's World Cup finals in Papua, New Guinea, when they face St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in Group B of their CFU final-round clash in Haiti at the Stade Sylvio Cator today.
Jamaica will compete in Group B alongside SVG, CuraÁao and arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago.
Group A consists of Dominica Republic, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Bermuda.
The top-three teams from the tournament will advance to the CONCACAF final round - set for December 3 to 13 in Honduras - from where eight teams will try to secure the three available World Cup spots for the region.
The Reggae Girlz have the distinction of being the only Caribbean team to qualify for every CONCACAF final round, even though they have never reached a major international tournament.
After tackling St Vincent and the Grenadines today, the Girlz face CuraÁao in the second game tomorrow, before closing against bitter rivals, Trinidad and Tobago, on Sunday.
The top-two teams will progress to the semi-finals and they will play off against the top-two teams from Group A for a place in the final.
The two finalists and the third-place winner will move on to the CONCACAF final.
