Abrahams is champion tipster
Veteran racing analyst and commentator Howard Abrahams (IRIE FM) has emerged The Gleaner/CTL champion tipster for 2015, topping the standings with 259 winners to capture the $80,000 prize money.
Taking control from mid-year, Abrahams finished 13 clear of closest rival Jimmie of THE STAR, who in turn was four clear of Francisco' Linky' Mills (Cable News Network) in third on 242. Mills held off a wall of tipsters, including Tony Chadman (News Talk), Kirk Kong (Track & Pools), RJR (Patrick Anderson), Sports Globe (Collin 'Pebbles' Blair) and the 2014 champion Orville Clarke (The Gleaner) for the $20,000 third prize, as Jimmie picked up $30,000 for second.
For the third consecutive year, the wagering section of the competition had no winner. All tipsters finished in the red with a minus quantity, Chadman coming out best of the 15 media tipsters with minus $6.950.00 The unclaimed prize money will be carried over to this year.
Meanwhile, RJR won the sixth and final bi-monthly category, coming through on the final raceday of the year to nab Chadman on the wire by a single winner (44-43) for the $20,000 prize.
