Bournemouth pushed relegation rivals Norwich City nearly the bottom three with an easy victory. Dan Gosling headed in Marc Pugh's cross before Vadis Odjidja brought down Pugh to allow Charlie Daniels to score from the spot. And record signing Benik Afobe rounded off the win by scoring in only his second game for the Cherries.

Leicester City returned to the top of the Barclays Premier League with a draw on Saturday but basement club Aston Villa stole a valuable point. Shinji Okazaki opened the scoring for Leicester. Riyad Mahrez missed a chance to double the lead after Leicester were awarded a controversial penalty for handball. But Villa striker Rudy Gestede.

John Terry was both hero and villain as Chelsea stole a valuable point with a controversial 98th-minute equaliser. Everton took the lead when Terry put through his own net before Kevin Mirallas put the visitors 2-0 up. Diego Costa reduced the margin and Cesc Fabregas's deflected shot made it 2-2. Ramiro Funes Mori restored Everton's lead in the 90th minute only for Terry to back-heel in from close range - although he appeared a yard offside.

MANCHESTER CITY 4 CRYSTAL PALACE 0

GOALS:- CITY: DELPH 22nd; AGUERO 41st, 68th; SILVA 84th.

Sergio Ag¸ero scored twice as Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the Barclays Premier League. Midfielder Fabian Delph gave City the lead with a long-range drive. Aguero doubled the advantage with an effort that deflected in off the head of Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann. Ag¸ero finished off a wonderful team move and David Silva added a fourth, with Palace winless in five league games.

NEWCASTLE UNITED 2 WEST HAM UNITED 1

GOALS:- NEWCASTLE: PEREZ 6th; WIJNALDUM 15th. WEST HAM: JELAVIC 49th.

Jonjo Shelvey made an impressive debut for Newcastle as he helped his side move out of the relegation zone with a win over West Ham. Shelvey had a hand in both goals as Ayoze Perez curled in a low shot before Georginio Wijnaldum side-footed in from six yards to make it 2-0.A poor back-pass by Chancel Mbemba let NikicaJelavic score for the Hammers.

SOUTHAMPTON 3 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 0

GOALS:- SOUTHAMPTON: WARD-PROWSE 5th, PEN 35th; TADIC 72nd.

Southampton rose to 10th in the Barclays Premier League thanks to a brace from James Ward-Prowse, who scored a brilliant 25-yard curled free-kick and a penalty for his first goals of the season. Serbian forward Dusan Tadic sealed the three points from a tight angle after a clever pass from Matt Targett.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 4 SUNDERLAND 1

GOALS:- SPURS: ERIKSEN 42nd, 67th; DEMBELE 59th; KANE PEN 79th. SUNDERLAND: VAN AANHOLT 40th.

Christian Eriksen scored twice as deepened Sunderland's relegation worries.Patrick van Aanholt gave the Black Cats the lead but Eriksen levelled as Lee Cattermole failed to clear on the goalline.Mousa Dembele fired Spurs ahead before Eriksen's 25-yard shot deflected in off Sunderland debutant Jan Kirchhoff.Harry Kane then converted a penalty after Kirchhoff fouled Danny Rose.
