FOOTBALL: Defending champs Arnett Gardens take over Premier league lead

Defending champions Arnett Gardens has moved to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League standings after playing to a 1-1 draw with rivals Tivoli Gardens at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex last evening.

Andrew Christie gave Tivoli the lead on the strike of half-time when he arrived at the near post and headed home from close range.

However, Leon Strickland scored the equaliser for Arnett four minutes into the second half with a powerful strike from 10-yards.

The draw has move Arnett to the summit on 43 points on goal difference ahead of Portmore United, who are also on 43 points.

Meanwhile, Tivoli remains at the bottom of the standing on 20 points. 

In other games, Portmore were stunned 3-1 by Humble Lion at the Effortville Community Centre, Reno defeated Cavalier 2-0, Rivoli United edged Boys' Town 3-2 and Waterhouse and Montego Bay United played to a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Harbour View will host the UWI in tonight's Monday night game at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
