Arsenal's Danny Welbeck (second left) jumps to head the ball and score his side’s second goal during the English Premier League soccer match against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium in London, yesterday. Arsenal won 2-1.

AFC BOURNEMOUTH 1 STOKE CITY 3

GOALS:- BOURNEMOUTH: RITCHIE 57th. STOKE: IMBULA 9th; AFELLAY 52nd; JOSELU 55th.

Newcomer Giannelli Imbula scored his first goal for Stoke as the Potters ended their three-match losing run. Record-signing Imbula gave Stoke an early lead before Ibrahim Afellay and sub Joselu extended their advantage soon after half-time. Matt Ritchie's left-footed reply came too late for the Cherries, who dropped to 15th in the Barclays Premier League.

CHELSEA 5

NEWCASTLE UNITED 1

GOALS:- CHELSEA: COSTA 5th; PEDRO 9th, 59th; WILLIAN 17th;

TRAORE 83rd. NEWCASTLE: TOWNSEND 90th.

Guus Hiddink's unbeaten record as Chelsea boss continued as Newcastle dropped into the relegation zone on the back of a Stamford Bridge thrashing. Diego Costa claimed his eighth goal in nine games for the Blues, Pedro scored twice, and Willian made it 4-0 before Bertrand Traore made it five. Andros Townsend replied for the Magpies.

CRYSTAL PALACE 1

WATFORD 2

GOALS:- PALACE: ADEBAYOR 45th. WATFORD: DEENEY PEN 16th, 82nd.

Watford are eighth in the Barclays Premier League, thanks to a brace from striker Troy Deeney. The Hornets skipper gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot, though newcomer Emmanuel Adebayor claimed his first goal to pull the Eagles level. Ben Watson set up Deeney for the winner, while Palace finished with 10 men after Pape Souare was red-carded.

EVERTON 0 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1

GOAL:- WBA: RONDON 14th.

West Bromwich Albion secured their first Barclays Premier League win in six outings as Everton suffered a sixth home defeat of the season. But Everton were forced to suffer on an afternoon in which they failed to score despite creating 34 shots. Albion, though, took their chance when Salomon Rondon scored against the run of play early on.

NORWICH CITY 2

WEST HAM UNITED 2

GOALS:- NORWICH: BRADY 54th; HOOLAHAN 65th. WEST HAM: PAYET 74th; NOBLE 76th.

Norwich suffered a setback in their bid for Barclays Premier League safety when they allowed West Ham to come back from a two-goal deficit at Carrow Road. Robbie Brady and Wes Hoolahan gave the Canaries the lead, but Dimitri Payet gave West Ham hope and then set up Mark Noble for the equaliser.

SWANSEA CITY 0 SOUTHAMPTON 1

GOAL:- SOUTHAMPTON: LONG 69th.

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster maintained his unbeaten record since returning from injury to help his side into sixth place. Forster and Saints have now gone nine hours and 14 minutes without conceding, and, with Shane Long scoring the game's only goal, extended their unbeaten run to six games, of which they have won five.

SUNDERLAND 2

MANCHESTER

UNITED 1

GOALS:- SUNDERLAND: KHAZRI 3rd; DE GEA OG 82nd. UNITED: MARTIAL 39th.

Sunderland improved their chances of survival, thanks to a poor Manchester United display. Wahbi Khazri gave Sunderland the lead with a free-kick, though Anthony Martial levelled with a delightful chip over Vito Mannone, but in the final minutes, Khazri's corner went in via a deflection off United keeper David de Gea.
