As if there is a mission to accomplish, voters in the St Andrew West Rural this morning streamed into the Stony Hill Heart Academy with a sense of urgency to cast their ballots for their candidate of choice.

St Andrew West Rural is one of the battleground seats where the Jamaica Labour Party's Juliet Cuthbert Flynn will be trying to wrest the seat from the People's National Party's Paul Buchanan.

The polling station opened on time and voters are currently exercising their franchise.

As our news team made its way through the winding roads of the constituency, the sounds of vuvuzela echoed across the hills seemingly sending a message to supporters of both political parties to heed the call and register their votes.

In the 2011 general election the PNP's Buchanan won the seat by 237 votes over the JLP's Andrew Gallimore.
In today's election 3,894 voters have been added to the list. The total number of electors is 36,870.
