Bolt, Fraser-Pryce nominated for Laureus athlete of the year awards
Jamaica's sprint superstars Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce have been nominated for the prestigious Laureus Awards for the male and female athlete of the year.
Bolt, who won three gold medals at last year's World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China, has been joined on the list by Barcelona footballer Messi.
Formula One's Lewis Hamilton, Australia Open tennis champion Novak Djokovic, American basketball star Stephen Curry and golfer Jordan Spieth, are also nominated.
Meanwhile, Fraser-Pryce, who won two gold medals in Beijing last year, is among six nominees for the female athlete of the year award.
The list also comprises US tennis star Serena Williams, football star Carli Lloyd, IAAF 2015 female athlete of the year, Genzebe Dibaba, Swimmer Katie Ledecky and Skier Anna Fenning.
The winners will be announced on April 18 in Berlin, Germany.
