Jamaica's McLeod wins 60m hurdles gold at World Indoor Championship
Omar McLeod has won gold in the men's 60-metre hurdles at the IAAF World Indoor Sports Championships taking place in Portland, Oregon in the United States.
McLeod won in a world leading 7.41 seconds ahead of Pascal Matrinot-Lagarde of France, who crossed the line in 7.46 seconds. Another Frenchman, Dimitri Bascou, was third in 7.48.
The only other competitor from the Caribbean in the finals, Shane Brathwaite of Barbados, was eighth in 7.88 seconds.
Meanwhile, Jamaica failed to finish in the women's 4x400 metres won by the USA in a world leading three minutes- 26.38 seconds. Poland were second in three minutes- 31.15 seconds and Romania received the bronze, crossing the line in three minutes- 31.51 seconds for third.
