Murielle Ahoure (Ivory Coast) outlasted Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown to win the women's 200m at the Shanghai Diamond League in China earlier.

Ahoure came off the turn just ahead of Campbell-Brown and withstood a second kick by the Jamaican at the 130m mark before slightly extending her lead to win in 22.72, with Campbell-Brown crossing the line in 22.82.

The second Jamaican in the event Anneisha Mclaughlin-Whilby did well to finish third in 22.94, leaving both women with different perspectives.

Campbell-Brown was certainly not pleased as she made her way off the track, telling The Gleaner that she was expecting more after a very good week of training.

"I am disappointed, I wasn't expecting this. I have been training extremely well and this result is no indication of the shape I am in," said Campbell-Brown.

Mclaughlin-Whilby, who has returned this season after a year-long break, said she was satisfied with her result and is looking forward to further improvements as the season progresses.

"That was a rough 22.9," she laughed. "But I am happy with that effort, I have been training well and I'm confidently looking forward to the rest of the season."
