Bahamaian Shaunae Miller continued her impressive start to the season, dominating the women’s 400m field at the Shanghai Diamond League and winning in 50.45 seconds inside the Shanghai Stadium earlier.
Commonwealth champion and World Championships finalist Stephenie-Ann McPherson was second with a season-best 50.98, finishing ahead of third placed Natasha Hastings (USA), 51.10.
McPherson was satisfied with the result after what she described as a tough week of training.
“To come here after over 14 hours of travel and a really tough week of training, this is a good result for me. I am happy with that especially considering it’s a season best,” McPherson told The Gleaner.
The athlete said she is placing special focus on her execution this season and is eager to see what she accomplishes at the end of the season, after what has been her most complete and productive background season in her career.
Novlene Williams-Mills was fourth in 51.96 with Shericka Jackson finishing sixth in 53.02.
