SHANGHAI, China:
Justin Gatlin clocked his first wind-legal sub-10 seconds race of the season, sprinting to a 9.94 seconds win at the Shanghai Diamond League.

He had earlier posted a windy 9.90 in The Bahamas before a 10.02 win in Japan earlier this week.

Gatlin, who said he was comfortable with his execution, had spoken about pacing himself with the view of peaking in time for the US Olympic trials and the Olympic Games.

He finished ahead of training partner Femi Ogunode (Qatar) 10.07 and fellow American Mike Rodgers, 10.10, who arrived in Shanghai less than 24 hours ago.

Young Jamaican Julian Forte was left disappointed with his sixth place finish, which came in a time of 10.23 seconds.
