St Andrew retain JTA-Sagicor title
Defending champions St Andrew scored 359.5 points yesterday to retain their title at the end of the two-day Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA)-Sagicor National Primary, All-Age and Junior High Championships at the National Stadium.
St Catherine were second with 255.5, followed by St Ann (230), Portland (220), Westmoreland (193), Manchester (168), St Elizabeth (153), Clarendon (151), St Thomas (111), Kingston (81), Trelawny (44), St Mary (42), St James (25), and Hanover (11).
The champions topped the boys with 228 points. St Ann (159) were the runners-up, while St Catherine placed third with 138. Portland were top among the girls with 138, and St Andrew next on 131.5. Manchester were third with 120.
Ramoya Thompson of St Thomas and St Andrew's Kevin Wilson were the overall champion girl and boy, respectively. Competing among the under-9s, Thompson ended the meet with 24 points while Wilson, an under-17 athlete, got 23 points.
Tatyana Crawford (18.5) of St Andrew finished second overall among the girls, while there was a tie for second place in the boys' section, with Shamar Davis and Nemoy Cockett, both of St Andrew, getting 22 points each.
