Trial bumps ‘Messi’ Marsh from Chile, Copa Centenario

Chevonne 'Messi' Marsh, one of the six local players who were selected to the Reggae Boyz squad for Friday's friendly against Chile and the Copa Centenario, will miss the encounter against the South Americans, as well as the Copa America championship, after he was summoned by Finland club, Kuopion Palloseura, for trial.

The player was supposed to begin his trail stint at the end of April to June 2, but that was delayed until recently.

A Cavalier official revealed yesterday that the player received a correspondence, along with a plane ticket, to travel to the European country.

He departed the island yesterday to take up the offer and in the process gave up the chance to represent the Reggae Boyz in Friday's match, plus the upcoming Copa Centenario.

Marsh, a former Calabar High Manning Cup star, started playing senior football for Cavalier in 2009 and has become one of the club's most reliable, productive and exciting players. He ended the 2015-16 Red Stripe Premier League season as Cavalier's top scorer with seven goals.
