Wold Championships silver medal winner Elaine Thompson got her 200m campaign off to a positive start, clocking 22.16 for third place at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon today.
The event was won by the in-form American Tori Bowie, who cocked a world leading 21.99 to better World Champion Dafne Schippers from The Netherlands, 22.11.
In the men's 100m, Asafa Powell was among those who complained about not hearing the starter's gun as he was forced to settle for second behind Justin Gatlin with Tyson Gay taking third place.
Gatlin crossed the line in a wind-aided 9.88 seconds (+2.6) ahead of Powell, 9.94 and Gay, 9.98.
